2 days to Nice!!!!

Hurray! I'm getting so excited for my trip to Nice! Only one more day of work, two more nights in my own bed, and a 4 hour train ride to go! YepeE!

I went clothes shopping today to buy myself something beach-y to wear this weekend. I've been boiling in all of my clothes this week.... I didn't bring many items to wear when the weather gets above 70 and the sun is shining bright! It will probably be warmer here in Lyon than in Nice this weekend with the Mediterranean breeze, but it will still be nice and sunny! So no actual swimming will take place, but beach picnics, walking along the promenades, and soaking up the sun will:) YAY!

Anywho- sorry for being MIA this week. I've felt pretty good all week, but come home very tired... so between lounging, working, and naps, I get ready for bed thinking, oops, I didn't blog today! But Monday was good.... same old same old at that school. I joked with the CP teacher that Jingle Bells will be perfect by next year when Christmas rolls back around. That's always the first song they request when we have left-over time to kill. At my Tuesday school, I went in early to help Perrine with the American pancake breakfast. The pancakes were alright (not up to my Aunt Jemima standards), but the kids loved them once they slathered on some jam and butter. I thought- this isn't really how we eat pancakes, but c'est la vie!

I stayed later for lunch because I was making up the morning classes I missed in the afternoon. I enjoyed talking to all the teachers and realized how much I'm going to miss this team. We've decided to all go out one last time on the 22nd, I'm going over to Nathalie's for Easter lunch (when she asked if I wanted to come over for the 24th, I was like sure- but you do know it's Easter right? She said, oh? Is it? Cool! You can help my kids hunt Easter eggs! lol), I'm meeting Elise in Lyon next week to do a tour of the Traboules in Croix-Rousse, and she also wants me to meet her family for lunch before I go. So it's nice to know I'll get to spend a little more time with all of them!

I've got all my final lessons planned and ready to go.... so I don't have much left to do for school but actually go and teach. I'll probably need to organize the materials I used and made for the assistants next year, but I've already created a word document explaining what units and lessons I did for each class at each school. I never heard back from Laurence, but Celine, the woman who first contacted me last year in August as my director, is back in her old position. It's sort of weird that no one sent me an email saying that she'd be taking back her position.... it just sort of happened.... like no one was supposed to notice. Unfortunately, I have noticed, because I'd like to know where my old friend Laurence is.... so I'll have to send her another email here soon.... if nothing else to make sure she gets back her microwave!

Today, besides shopping, I had lunch with Hannah and Lindsey at a cute place called l'épicerie. They are known for their tartines, or toasts. They put anything from duck paté to creamed cheese to mozzarella and pesto on their toasts. I shared a duck paté tartine and a mozzarella, tomato, pesto tartine with Hannah. I wouldn't have normally eaten duck, but it's supposed to be high in iron- so there you go! Surprisingly I loved it, so I guess I'm iron deficient for a reason- to try new foods:) I also had dessert, or course, which was delicious... a chocolate pear tarte. Yumz!

Well- must go continue being productive..... I've got packing/cleaning/and sleeping to do!!! I'll try to blog tomorrow before I go, but if not, I'll write Sunday afternoon! I get back Saturday evening late.

Reste cool:)
